2023 / 2024 Homework

Weekly Homework

For this term in Year 2, our homework will be set on a Wednesday and needs to be completed and handed in by the following Tuesday. Homework will be set weekly, starting from Wednesday 13th September.

Each week, the children will be set:

English, Maths & RE - the homework for these subjects will be based on what we have been learning in class that week. The pupils will have grown their confidence and should use this opportunity to practice their new knowledge. The homework for English and Maths can be found on separate sheets with instructions on how to complete.

Spellings - six new spellings will be set each week to practice at home. These will be words that we are visiting in spelling that follow certain patterns or rules and it will prove very useful to the children if they practice these regularly at home throughout the week. 'Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check' is a great strategy to use.

An Optional Task - I will also be setting a challenge task each week on something that we are learning in our wider curriculum topics (Art, Computing, DT, Geography, History, Music, PE, PSHE, Science). The task itself will vary week to week and the pupils will be rewarded 3 dojos if they complete it.

Reading - it is really important that your child keeps reading! I have been very pleased to hear that so many of the children read daily and you obviously know how important reading is. This is going to help to make the children brilliant writers too! Please make sure to record in the reading diaries of any reading done at home. I will be checking these during the week.

Please support your children with homework tasks and support our aim of a love of learning.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to message me on Class Dojo.
